What is Counselling?

Counselling is based on listening, not advice giving, within a caring, accepting relationship.   It can help you when you are going through a major change such as a relationship breakdown, emotional problems, childhood traumas or through a time of crisis or a transition in your life.

The counselling may be short-term or longer depending on your need for help through this difficult time. Counselling can offer you support and a place to explore your feelings and thoughts as you regain a greater sense of control in your life. As you look at the positive and negative aspects of differing approaches to your problem you can consider how you can move forward with your life.

Through counselling you may come to understand your situation better and to put it in the context of your overall life experience. With the sense of being understood and accepted you have the opportunity to grow emotionally and to resolve inner conflicts and decisions.

Problems may include fear, anger, loneliness, depression, anxiety, grief, illness or loss, compulsions, pain, broken relationships, abuse or any other problem you need to discuss, work at and find a way through.
